OMEGA-3 RICH NANNOCHLOROPSIS MICROALGAE

Nannochloropsis Microalgae farm

Pure Omega-3, without harming fish.

THE CHALLENGE

Long-chain Omega-3s are vital for heart and brain health, yet just 1 in 5 Australians consume enough. At the same time, traditional sources of Omega-3, fish and krill, are under threat from overfishing, bycatch, and contamination, endangering their sustainability.

OUR SOLUTION

Fish and krill don’t produce Omega-3s; their source of this vital nutrient is microalgae, found at the base of the marine food chain.

So we're forging a sustainable approach. We are growing Nannochloropsis Microalgae on land, specifically near Byron Bay, leveraging the expertise of Australian scientists and engineers. This strain of microalgae thrives on sunlight and CO2, making it an ecologically friendly and renewable option.

The strong and rising demand for algae-derived Omega-3, priced higher than our production costs, highlights both the economic viability and the increasing recognition of sustainable Omega-3 sources' ecological importance.

RESULTS SO FAR

A pilot scale operation for the cultivation and processing of Nannochloropsis Microalgae was established and validated over 5 years at the University of Queensland.

Our commercial scale facility (40 times larger) is progressing well; design complete, site and approvals secured, construction ahead of schedule. Commissioning begins early 2024, with full-scale production in April 2024.
